Frequently Asked Questions
PRC Medical Clinic offers a range of free pregnancy services, including free pregnancy testing, free ultrasounds, information on abortion and the abortion pill, and resources and referrals for other services, such as STD testing and treatment. We are here to provide education and support to women facing unplanned pregnancies in South Orange County in San Clemente, Mission Viejo, or on our Mobile Clinic.
Our tests can be performed 7 to 10 days after conception. A client with a negative result may be invited to return within 2 weeks for a repeat test if she has not had her period.
If you have taken a home pregnancy test, you may want to confirm results with a laboratory-quality test at our center or mobile clinic. Our tests detect HCg levels within 7 to 10 after conception.
While walk-ins are welcome, we recommend making an appointment to ensure you receive timely service. You can easily schedule an appointment online or call or text us at our San Clemente, or Mission Viejo Clinic, or contact our mobile clinic for available hours.
You’ll be welcomed by our receptionist who will introduce you to your client advocate. She will listen to you judgment-free and provide you with information followed by a pregnancy test. Should your test be positive, one of our caring medical professionals will conduct a limited ultrasound to confirm if you have a viable pregnancy and date fetal age.
Absolutely! You can bring your boyfriend, family member, or friend. We will first meet with you for the initial intake. Then, provided you have given us consent to have them in the room, your guest will be able to join you.
We adhere to a strict privacy and confidentiality policy. Clients will be protected from disclosure of information that violates the right to privacy except when required by law, required for public health reasons, required to avert a threat of harm to the client or a third person, or when other circumstances may reasonably warrant such use or disclosure without prior authorization (e.g., abuse reporting, suicide/homicide prevention, etc.).
Our professional, medical-grade lab quality pregnancy test can determine pregnancy on the first day after your first missed period. We recommend you make an appointment if you have missed a period, have any pregnancy related questions, or think you might be pregnant.
On-site ultrasounds are available each location after an initial intake with one of our client advocates. Our limited ultrasound exams are performed by a licensed nurse sonographer or RDMS (registered sonographer) and reviewed by a licensed physician. An ultrasound confirms a viable pregnancy and determines how far along you are. To qualify for a limited ultrasound, you’ll need to be a minimum of 5 weeks and 5 days from the first day of your last menstrual period.
You can still meet with a member of our staff to discuss your concerns and review available options. An ultrasound is recommended to know if your pregnancy is viable and in your uterus, since 20% – 25% of all pregnancies end in miscarriage. Additionally, the ultrasound will show how far along you are to determine what type of abortion you would choose. We can provide a limited ultrasound at no cost to you.
PRC Medical Clinic provides comprehensive information about all your options, including detailed information on abortions and the abortion pill. Our trained staff can answer your questions and provide non-judgmental support to help you make an informed decision.
While PRC Medical Clinic does not offer STD testing or treatment on-site, we can assist with any questions you have and refer you to clinics that provide comprehensive testing and treatment for STIs/STDs.
PRC has three possible locations: San Clemente, Mission Viejo, and our mobile clinic. We are located in downtown San Clemente, CA, or minutes from the 5 freeway in Mission Viejo. We also have a mobile clinic which serves the South Orange County area.
If you are questioning your abortion decision or experiencing regret, please know that you are not alone, and help is available. We offer a safe medical treatment that includes an ultrasound and prescribed progesterone which may be able to reverse the effects of the first abortion pill, all at no cost to you.
Pain levels are highly personal, depending on factors like your usual pain tolerance and anxiety. Some find it manageable; others experience severe cramping. May feel like intense period pain or labor-like contractions, sometimes radiating to the rectum or anus. Many people report the pain is more intense than anticipated, even when told it’s like period pain.
Medication abortion, also known as medical abortion or abortion with pills, is a pregnancy termination protocol that involves taking two different drugs, Mifepristone and misoprostol, that can be safely used up to the first 70 days (10 weeks) of pregnancy according to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
